Having quit alcohol after a decade-long fight, this album was, initially, going to be a collection of the songs Boxer John wrote as he was withdrawing but he felt that, from a therepeutic and symbolic perspective, those songs didn't represent the change in perception he felt when the worst of the withdrawal had passed. As he was recording the old songs, more and more new songs emerged from the process and these songs became "Realms of Reassuring Reality". In this respect, the album represents an altered attitude and this can be felt in the ease of flow of each song. There is very little rigidity in either the melodic or lyrical structure of the songs and thematically, consciousness tends to drift from subject to subject with emotional fluidity. (Incidentally, plans are still firmly fixed to release the previously mentioned album in the new year).
"Realms of Reassuring Reality" is Boxer John's first self-produced album. It was successfully crowd-funded at Pledge Music where it reached 101% of it's intended financial target. Boxer John sings vocals and plays guitar and is accompanied by a group of highly-experienced and soulful musicians from the Vienna underground music scene. The album will be available on multiple online platforms from 1st December including i-Tunes, Amazon and Google Play along with many online streaming sites such as Pandora and Spotify. The album will also be available on CD from http://www.boxerjohn.com, http://cdbaby.com/cd/boxerjohn and Amazon. There are plans for a possible vinyl release in the future but no information is currently available. All songs and lyrics written and copyrighted by Boxer John, 2013.
